St Columba Cup
The St Columba Cup is the inaugural event where Plymouth’s best female rugby players go head to head, putting on the shirts for both Plymouth Academicals RFC & Plymouth Combination RFC. This match is one that St Columba Rugby Trust fully supports and we will do our upmost to ensure that this great game continues for the future. For the 2024 match, StCRT supplied not only the trophies and balls for the game but also sponsored the first-ever Plymouth Combination Women’s shirt. As this event remains a permanent fixture for the charity and the community we look forward to being a part of it each year.
In 2024 the game was a spectacular showing from both sides with the game ending in a draw, rugby was certainly the winner on the day.
St Columba Trophy
The St Columba Trophy is another new fixture on the rugby calendar in Plymouth, where both the Plymouth Combination & Plymouth Academicals Men’s sides give it their all on the field for the love of the game. Like the St Columba Cup, the Trophy is supported by the charity through the donation of game balls and the Trophy itself. StCRT looks forward to this evening each year as a showcase for the rugby of Plymouth and its fantastic community.
In 2024 the Plymouth Combination claimed victory on the field with a 33 -26 win against the Academicals
Torpoint Tennis Tuesdays
In 2024 Torpoint Town Council and the Lawn Tennis Association undertook the project of renovating the community tennis court. When hearing of this development the St Columba Rugby Trust wanted to help make this updated facility more accessible to the public, making a donation of Tennis Equipment of over £200, which is available to the public to use. Along with this over the summer months, StCRT is working with local businesses to make the court free to all on Tuesday evenings! We hope to make this a regular occurrence for us at the charity and the Torpoint Community.
